It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defense and Allen attempting to do too much to dig his team out of it - not the composed, controlled, balanced Bills we've seen this season

Miami have demonstrated a bit of everything this year so the jury's out on if this is the start of something, but for the Bills they'll need an instant response in a tough game against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the American Football Conference East

Visiting Baltimore is challenging too, but the Broncos have it even tougher in the AFC West division with the Kansas City to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who could also challenge for top seed but face the identical challenge) and also the Green Bay on the schedule

The Colts also play the Kansas City, and have the Seattle, 49ers and two matchups with the five and four Jacksonville to contend with. There is a considerable distance to travel but the opportunity is open for a surprise top seed in the American Football Conference

Both squads with solid claims to be superior to all of the three eight and two sides are NFC West opponents the Seattle and Rams, who both scored forty points to reach 7-2 before the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster game between the two in LA

Both have secured four victories in a row, have signal callers in Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an elite level (although Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with top receivers, and defensive units giving up fewer than twenty points a contest

Each could realistically be undefeated as too - particularly the Los Angeles as their pair of losses came in overtime against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a game-winning field goal with the last kick blocked and run back by the Eagles for a score

The Seahawks were also defeated to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in the opening week, before falling to the last kick of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they are genuinely among the top teams in the NFL

The next matchup on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season so far
