Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande on the occasion of Movie Premiere Banned from Singapore
A man from Australia who vaulted across a fence and reached for actress Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from Singapore.
The man, twenty-six, was sentenced to nine days in detention for causing a public disturbance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," Singaporean immigration authorities stated to local media.
Wen pushed past photographers and charged at the performer and artist, who was present at the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on the thirteenth of November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
He has a background of causing disturbances at events and star-studded occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop star's Australian show in this summer.
The event caused anger in Singapore, with many accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.
The singer has spoken of dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at her show in the UK city in spring of 2017 killed 22 people and affected hundreds.
In the legal process, the authorities learned he had tried to gain access on the film's premiere multiple times, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a second attempt to jump the barricades. Security staff intercepted him and restrained him.
The man subsequently shared recordings thanking Grande for allowing his presence and said he was "free."
Authorities arrested him the next day and charged him with causing a disturbance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.
The District Judge the magistrate was quoted by a news outlet as remarking that Wen was "attention seeking", noting that he was mistaken to assume he would not face any penalties.
The singer has not addressed the incident.
Cynthia Erivo mentioned the incident to a media outlet, saying that she "only aimed to make sure my friend was safe."
"I believe he didn't mean us harm, but you never know with those things, and I wanted to make sure that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she stated.
