Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
