The President Invites Families of Attacked Military Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.
He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting
Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.
Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.
Presidential Offer
The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Support
Community members gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the individual that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to help others.”
Funeral details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Actions and Government Revisions
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The event caused the administration to suspend asylum processing and cease providing entry permits to owners of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to his relatives.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with excellence, per the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” he informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
