A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

An Opportunity for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to support Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.

“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The diverse array of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a range of well-known figures from the scene. All were part of the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a group of talented individuals. The song features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.

The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a figure commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was characterized as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of buildings described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a few million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving the human dimension of the story.”

The song is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
